May 9, 2011 - There is usually a Black-Necked Stilt at the pond behind Lakehurst these nights. Sometimes there are two, but more often one. I wonder if there’s a nest nearby?? I’d love to have babies close by!

Mockingbird Fledglings Underfoot
May 5, 2011 - The backyard was alive tonight with calls of the mockingbird fledglings. It’s fun to see them come out of the hedge and learn to feed themselves. They remain quite fussy, and when this guy saw his mom fly by, he was sure was going to get a snack. He pouted when he didn’t!

Springtime roses!
March 30, 2011 - My backyard roses are starting to bloom! I love how they all bloom at about the same time in the spring, about six weeks after I prune them almost back to the ground. It’s amazing how fast these bushes grow.

Warblers
