New rose blooms
The first bloom on my new roses opened today! This one is ‘Simply Marvelous!’ (Although I think Goldy is more concerned about watching a bird than watching the rose…)

Meet Bobby the Mockingbird. His name is Bobby because of the way he perches on the oleander branches, under the suet feeders, and bobs up and down for his dinner. Here he seems to be searching the yard for twigs…hopefully he’s helping his wife Bobetta build a nest! (Now we need a name for the babies…hmm…)
The wind tried to blow the garden away today, but luckily it did not succeed! I guess ‘Butterscotch Ruffles’ liked the wind and rain, because it opened this beautiful flower late in the afternoon. The rain was good for the new flower bed, though. See the Garden Craze page for a picture. The house finches visited our front trees several times while I was out this weekend. They happily chattered to each other until they realized that I was watching them, then they fluttered away. I like spring!
