My roses have already leafed out
I love growing bare root roses in Florida. Two weeks ago when I planted my new roses, they looked like sticks. Now they are all leafed out. One even looks like it is thinking about blooming!

I went back to the Lukas Butterfly Encounter today and had a great morning photographing the butterflies.
For the past few weeks I’ve been seeing only the occasional Goldfinch stop at the thistle feeders, and then this morning we had ten of them breakfasting in the backyard. They are starting to get their breeding plumage back, and some look pretty silly in their in-between molting stage. I hope they stick around a bit longer – they are very nice backyard guests!
