Whiskey says that we’re overdue for a post about cats – after all, this blog was inspired by cats and turtles! He asked me to share some pictures that we took this afternoon. Rich and I joke that Whiskey is black and white and pink all over because his skin is pink underneath his fur. (And because he has the most adorable pink nose!) So today I put a pink gel on the flash and tried for the “pink all over” effect. I tried to feather the flash so that Loopy wouldn’t turn magenta (he’s a boy, after all, and he has his dignity!) The result was basically what I was trying for – a cute black and white kitty, with slightly tinted pink fur.
One of Whiskey’s nicknames is the “Green-eyed Monster” (and it fits, he’s often jealous when we do stuff with the other cats!) So next I tried a green gel on the flash to see how that worked with his green eyes. I’m not sure I had the flash aimed at the right angle — it’s hard to hand-hold both the camera and the flash and get the flash at a good angle off-camera. But I definitely got the green-eyed sparkle. Loopy and I have a date scheduled for a photo shoot with a soft box in his room, which has pale green walls. He promises to do anything but sit still!
I love how Whiskey looks in the soft light by the window, which is one of his favorite places. I also love it when his whiskers are backlit by the early morning sun out on the porch. I promised him lots more photo ops during our upcoming Thanksgiving break. But for today, he told me that he’d had enough – he had places to go and toys to chase!
Who has all the loopies?
