Happy Easter!

We’ve had bunnies visiting our backyard lately, but not the egg-bearing Easter kind.

Actually, we have had up to 3 rabbits in the yard together.  We see them throughout our subdivision, and lately, our backyard has been their hangout.  They do nibble at my plants, but they don’t do any real damage – and they are so cute that it’s hard to get annoyed at them.

The rabbits are so used to having me in the backyard that they don’t mind me at all.  I can go out and refill the bird feeders and walk within 3 feet of them, and they just sit there and watch me.  One day I was in the bird blind and they came really close.  Then one of them started giving himself a bath, cat-style!  He’d lick his paw and them pass it over his face and head.  I didn’t know rabbits did that.

One evening at dusk there were two rabbits in the yard.  Then they started doing the bunny hop – literally!  One would dash towards the other, who would hop straight in the air, making room for his partner to run straight underneath him.  It was such fun to watch!  (Whiskey and Squirt were fascinated from the porch.)  I got a couple of snapshots of their dance.  Too funny!

Something tells me that we’ll soon have more bunnies in the backyard.  ;-)
