Silly Cat Tunes

Posted

Rich and I enjoy making up silly words to songs about our cats.  I’ve been meaning to post some to the blog for a while.  This weekend’s rainy weather motivated me to actually do it, in honor of Whiskey’s nine-month birthday in a few days.  (Our apologies to the original song writers…)

Whiskey’s Song – Feelin’ Loopy

Slow down, you grow too fast!

You’ve got to make your kittenhood last.

Just cuddle down, then put Squirt in a headlock

We’ve got to say, he’s feelin’ Loopy!

La-la-la-la-la-la-la, feelin’ Loopy!

To to the tune of “The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin’ Groovy)” by Simon and Garfunkel

Squirt’s Song – It’s Been a Hard Cat Night

It’s been a hard cat night, he’s been bouncing off the walls

It’s been a hard cat night, he’s been bouncing off the walls

Why do we leave him alone, where he can’t bite us, woe!

It makes him feel so sad.

When he’s sad, everything makes him say “mieu!”

When he’s bad, everything makes him say “mieu! mieu! mieu!”

It’s been a hard cat day, Goldy didn’t want to play

It’s been a hard cat day, all his mice ran away

Why do we leave him away, where he can’t bite us, woe!

It makes him feel so sad.

When he’s sad, everything makes him say “mieu!”

When he’s bad, everything makes him say “mieu! mieu! mieu!”

To the tune of “A Hard Day’s Night” by the Beatles

Goldy’s Song – Mealtime Choruses

Hungry eyes!  One look at her and you realize she has

Hungry eyes!

To the tune of “Hungry Eyes” by DeNichola and Previte

Food, glorious food!

Served with a spoon, glorious spoon!

From “Food, Glorious Food” by Lionel Bart, for the musical Oliver!

Squirt’s Release from His Room in the Morning

Squirt’s coming out!

He wants the world to know

He’s feeling twerpy so

He’s coming out!

He gets to leave his room,

He’s getting’ cat food soon

Squirt’s coming down!

Be careful on the stairs,

Pass him if you dare…

To the tune of “I’m Coming Out” performed by Diana Ross

Porchtime Delights

Squirt feels it in his whiskers,

He feels it in his tail!

The breeze is all around him,

And so he starts to purr.

It’s written in the wind,

It’s everywhere he goes,

People will love him,

and this he surely knows…

To the tune of “Christmas is All Around” by Billy Mack (Love Actually)
